First played Keyboards:
I first played keyboards at the age of six years old.
First gig: I played for a school dance at Reed Middle School in
Hubbard, Ohio.
First recording: I recorded an EP with my brother Rick in 1985.
First Keyboard: A Hammond M-3 Organ that my father gave to me.
David started playing the keyboards at age six. David is an original
and founding member of the Hern Brothers. My father, Rick Hern
Sr. taught me a few keyboard patterns when I was six years old.
I never took music lessons everything is learned by ear. I began
singing at the age of six also. I started performing at school
dances and private parties with my brother Rick when I was thirteen
years old. Prior to that, my brother and I would sit in with my
fathers band at nightclubs in the Youngstown, Ohio area. I started
playing professionally with my brother as the Hern Brothers in
1980. I am continuing my efforts to writing, recording and live
performances.
